Elections- Have you got the Vibe?

The Student Union here at Swansea Met- everything from the Union Shop to Societies is owned by you!

HUH?

Well its a membership body - you dont pay anything dont worry! But by virtue of being a student at Swansea Met you become a member and therefore a stakeholder in your Union.

WHY SHOULD I CARE?

Well its your Union - so you have the right to take control on how its run, what it does and how we go forward.

Every year we elect three, paid full-time officers to represent, campaign, direct and challenge every day for a whole year. They are;

President – This officer is the key liason with the University and external bodies. The president sits on all major University committees ensuring that students education is put first and their views represented fairly. The president also helps advise students with academic issues whilst studying at Swansea Met.

Welfare Officer- This officer is focused upon ensuring that all Swansea Met students are well supported and informed during their study here. In fulfilling the role students will be informed of the risks which face them and the support and advice available to them.

Student Activities Officer- This officers role is to make sure there are plenty of opportunities for students to relax and get to know other students when not studying. This officer coordinates all the sports teams and societies, organises nights out and events for students from comedy nights to the summer ball.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

Have you got the vibe? Can you put your fellow students first? Can you stand up and speak for them? Are you passionate about issues, want to campaign for change?
