How to Vote
(When voting goes live a link will be highlighted that will be redirect you to the secure voting pages)
The online Voting System will ask your preference for each of the candidates for each position (e.g. 1,2,3 – 1 being your FIRST choice candidate for the position).
You must put a preference for a candidate to move onto the next contested position.
The Students’ Union uses a transferable voting system which works on the basis that you choose the candidate you’d most like to do the job (your first preference) and then the next best candidate (your second preference) and if there is a third candidate your third preference and so on.
This system is used by all Students’ Unions in the UK and is recognised by the Electoral Reform Society as the fairest method of voting, which brings to power those candidates who receive the most preference votes.
Transferrable voting is a system which rewards candidates who are the ‘second choice’ of the supporters of ‘first choice’ candidates.
